Don’t Give Away Your Power

“If you think you have power, you have power. If you don’t think you have power, you have no power.” – Michael Korda

Our brains are vast neural networks comprised of knowledge, experiences and thoughts, both good and bad. It has been scientifically proven that negative thinking and chronic complaining, can rewire the brain. Likewise, 12 minutes of daily prayer over an 8-week period can change the brain to such an extent that it can be measured on a brain scan.

Let go of ‘stinking thinking’.

When I consider how negative thinking and chronic complaining can affect our lives, and infect the lives of others, I’m reminded of the Israelites. According to Scripture, they were enslaved by their Egyptian rulers for 430 years. When they were finally able to obtain their freedom, it took them 40 years to travel from Egypt to the Land of Canaan (the Promised Land).  A journey that should have only taken approximately 30 days.

Why did it take the Israelites 40 years to travel 250 miles to reach the Promised Land?

Because they still had a slave mentality. Rather than rejoicing in their newfound freedom and embracing their new life, they allowed their fear, self-doubt and stinking thinking to cloud their judgement and take away their power. They began to complain, fight among themselves, question their leaders and their faith, and were lost.

What are you programming into your daily thoughts?

Many people in our country today are trapped in a similar slave or victim mentality. They have allowed themselves to be controlled by misinformation and negative opinions about their own self-worth and the world around them. In the words of Michael Jackson, “If you want to make the world a better place, take a look at yourself and make a change.” Dare to Be Great!

“Give yourself permission to Be Great, it’s within your power.”

Don’t allow yourself to become a charter member of the “Whine Off Club” and be sucked into this endless tide pool of negativity and the constant complaining that surrounds us. It will rob you of your joy and your power. Instead, elevate your thinking and rise above it.

Dare to …

Believe in yourself.

Enjoy your life.

Give generously (but not your power).

Respect all living things.

Energize and excite others.

Avoid the energy vampires.

Transform your thoughts into actions.

Do you have a victim mentality, or do you have power? If you believe you have power, then don’t give it away. Recognize that we pass down our beliefs, attitudes, biases, etc. Find ways to use your power to accomplish great things. To better yourself and to improve the lives of the people around you, particularly your children.

Don’t limit yourself or allow others to control your thoughts and actions or drown out your own inner voice. Do your part to end the visceral ‘whine off’ that is plaguing our society and break this cycle of negativity.

Take back your power and BE GREAT … I DARE YOU!!!
